Today was the third day of C25k, and while for the most part i’m enjoying jogging way more that i thought i would, today’s run was a little frustrating. First off, during the second section of running i met up with a pack of kids from the nearby elementary taking a nature walk. Running against a grain of children. Not fun.
Then i reached the part of my route that is gravel trail, at which point i remembered the significant amount of rain we had. For the most part this just meant wet trail, but parts of the trail are low enough that the lake over took it. There were yards of trail that were covered in ankle deep water! It was so bad that at some points i couldn’t even go onto the side and jog through the brush, i had to go through it. Needless to say, i returned home with soaking shoes.
Anonymous asked: You go girl! Your progress is inspirational, and you look GREAT! :)
Thank you very much!
It’s been awhile since i’ve properly updated, so here we go! Been home for over a week, and while i have worked out some, I haven’t been nearly as vigilant as i should be, nor had i started running like i promised myself. I’ve also been pretty lax about watching what i eat, in between going out with friends and just making bad decisions at home. This has resulted in a bit of weight gain (i was 221.25 this morning.)Due to my less than stellar dedication, starting today i’m going to be writing down the calories in my food so that i’m held accountable for what i eat.
Also, even though i’d talked about it twice with various friends, i haven’t gotten my ass out of bed to go running yet, so instead of just promising i actually went out and did it this morning! I downloaded the Couch to 5k app on my iphone, which was interesting because it would only audibly notify me to start running/walking if i had the app up on the screen opposed to locked, so i had to hold my phone in my hand to feel the notification vibrations it gave instead of having it tucked away in my bra, so i’ll need to figure that out since i know i won’t feel the vibrations when i put my phone in the arm band i plan on buying.
ANYWAYS, the run went really well except that while i was on a foot path that connects the two main trails i like using, i tripped and fell! I ended up scrapping my knees, left forearm, and cheek. For the most part i’m uninjured, but my knee feels pretty stiff. Luckily that happened during the last run period so i was able to guiltlessly walk home afterwards.
Right now the plan is to do the C25K mon, wed, and fri, while still doing the 30DS tue and thur. I also want to work on being more active in general, since even when i was working out nearly everyday, i still spent a lot of time sitting around on the computer. Hopefully, this change in habit will help me at the very least maintain my weight this summer, although in the ideal world i’d like to get down to 200.
Sure, i’ve got tights on underneath, but i feel like it’s a step in the right direction!
I held off working out yesterday since my mom just did laundry and she gets upset when me or my sister ‘unnecessarily’ get clothes dirty right after she does that (which is understandable.) That means it was my first time working out in over a week, and i feel SO MUCH better now! after a few days without the shred, i was feeling lethargic, had trouble falling asleep, started sweating easily, my skin broke out and i noticed more of my hair was falling out than normal (!!)
Tomorrow i plan to get out and jog, especially now that i’ve found a new way to access the trails by my house: usually i follow a path that goes through my neighborhood (a collection of townhouse units) but sometimes there’s a really creepy guy out smoking so i’d have to wait inside my house until he goes back inside. After talking with my neighbor, she pointed out another way to get to the lake trails, and while it’s out of the way, it’s way more preferable than walking by creepy guy’s house.
Some more good news: since coming home i haven’t binged! Im sure i’ll slip up eventually since i’ll be home until August, but i’m doing very well. I talked my mom out of buying junk food multiple times when we went grocery shopping yesterday, and out of going and getting KFC, even though i’ve been craving KFC pretty much since the beginning of the school year.
Another test tonight though, my friends (most of whom i havent seen since new years) and i will be getting together at Applebees around 9pm tonight, so we’ll have to see if i can find a healthy option while we’re there!
First day home and i’ve mostly spent it cleaning/organizing up my room and playing Assassins Creed. It was really nice just to relax on my first day of summer, but i want to get back in the game tomorrow. I am absolutely determined not to let myself slide this summer and lose all the progress i’ve made.
I’m not sure if i’ll actually ‘complete’ the shred by way of doing nearly 30 straight days of it, since now that i’m home i want to start running. So i’m thinking I’ll do every other day of either running or shred with a rest day at least once a week.
Lastly, while cleaning i went through and tried on some of my ‘small’ clothes, and while nothing new really fits, I noticed that while i didn’t lose any net weight this semester, i look SO much better! Really goes to show how much difference muscle weight makes.
Oh! and my sister once again dumped some of her stuff in my room, including a pair of size 16 capri which fit! So i think it’s safe to say i’m on the fence of 16 and 18 womens, even if i’m no where near fitting into those junior size 17 pants i’ve been trying to get into forever now.
